Hare Mai
Welcome to The Louise’s
The Louise's was born from the visionary spirit of two entrepreneurs, Jenene & Scottie, who sought refuge in the enchanting seaside village of Piha, yearning to rekindle and connect with their wairua (living spirit).
Situated within the owners' private 7 acre property, this remarkable 600sqm+ haven now opens its doors exclusively to only a carefully selected few. With unparalleled views, the positioning of the whare (home) is uniquely designed to transport its visitors into the panoramic picture.
Every corner reveals uninterrupted vistas of beach and bush, offering boundless space and intimacy, for comfort and exploration. Our place is a testament to the invaluable experiences of our founders, who have witnessed countless ideas take flight, concepts stimulated, wellbeing nurtured, cultures come alive, and unbreakable bonds forged right here in the heart of Piha.
The Louise’s: A Story of Thoughtful Restoration
Originally built as a classic New Zealand "bach" in the 1970s, the property was a cherished retreat for a local family for many years. In the early 2000s, they embarked on an ambitious vision—to transform the simple holiday home into a generous, welcoming space designed to bring their whānau together.
Architect Gerard Commissaris led the project, crafting a home inspired by mid-century architecture, carefully blending timeless design with the natural landscape. His vision was to create a home that felt at one with its surroundings, embracing clean lines, expansive windows, and open spaces that framed the breathtaking views of Piha.
Over time, the property remained a work in progress, waiting for the right hands to complete the original dream. In late 2020, the new owners took on the challenge, breathing life back into the home while ensuring every element stayed true to its architectural intent. The 2024 refurbishment programme honored the original vision while introducing high-end modern luxuries, state-of-the-art technology, and refined design touches to create a truly exceptional retreat.
It wasn’t until this past year that the property became known as The Louise’s—a name that emerged organically, carrying a sense of warmth and personality that perfectly suits the unique character of this special place. Today, The Louise’s stands as a testament to both its past and future, a place where history, architecture, and contemporary comfort harmoniously converge.
